How to Display a Favicon in Search Results

Did you know that search engines like Google may display a favicon in search results like the example shown below?

Here's how to make your site eligible for a favicon in search results:

  1. Create a favicon by following the instructions in this post.
  2. On your WordPress site, go to Appearance » Customize.
  3. Click on Site Identity.
  4. Click on the Select site icon button and upload your favicon.
  5. Click Publish and you're done!

Please note that just because you've set a favicon, doesn't mean that it will appear in Google search results. As Google states in their article here, “A favicon isn't guaranteed in Google Search results, even if all guidelines are met”.
