Introducing the Author SEO (Google E-E-A-T) Addon in AIOSEO 4.5.4

We’re so excited to start the year off with one of the most exciting updates to our plugin.

Introducing the Author SEO addon in AIOSEO 4.5.4.

This is a powerful module that will help you meet Google’s E-E-A-T content guidelines, resulting in better rankings and increased traffic.

What is Google E-E-A-T?

Google's E-E-A-T stands for Expertise, Experience, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness. It is a set of criteria that Google uses to assess the quality of content on the web, particularly for pages that deal with topics related to health, finance, and other areas where accuracy and reliability are crucial.

The concept is prominently mentioned in Google's Search Quality Evaluator Guidelines, which are guidelines given to human evaluators who assess the quality of search results. Google designed these to ensure the content published online is of high quality. E-E-A-T is an acronym that stands for:

  • Experience: refers to the first-hand experiences the author or other members of the team have with that particular topic.
  • Expertise: refers to the expertise of the creator of the main content.
  • Authoritativeness: refers to the authoritativeness of the main content creator, the content, and the website the content is published on.
  • Trustworthiness: Refers to the trustworthiness of the main content creator, the content itself, and the website it’s published on.

The purpose of these standards is to help improve the quality of content published on the web. In addition, it helps ensure that content is accurate and helpful to users. This has become even more critical since the rollout of the Helpful Content Update (HCU).

Implementing Google E-E-A-T Has Become Easier with AIOSEO 4.5.4

With AIOSEO 4.5.4, it’s now easier to showcase E-E-A-T signals on your posts and pages, thanks to the Author SEO addon. You can now specify your areas of expertise, your experience, and more. You can do that in the Users section of your WordPress Dashboard. If you update to AIOSEO 4.5.4, you’ll find a new section called Author SEO, where you can input information to boost your E-E-A-T SEO.

Author SEO tab.

The Author SEO section is where you can add an author’s information to help validate your E-E-A-T signals.

Toggle to enable Author Info fields.

Some of the author info you can add include

  • Alumni Of
  • Employer
  • Job Title

And because AIOSEO outputs JSON schema for said information, search engines can easily understand it and take it into consideration.

Besides your credentials and role in your organization, you can also add categories of your areas of expertise.

"Knows About" section in the Author Info section.

All this information points to your experience and expertise in your field. Plus, coupled with the JSON schema markup, it proves to search engines that you’re qualified to talk about the subject. This helps you rank higher in searches around your keyword.

Leverage Your Author Bio

Trust is one of the key pillars in Google’s E-E-A-T content guidelines. One way you can gain readers’ trust is by letting them know who you are. This is why we added some blocks to help you inject author information into your posts. To get started, fill in your author bio information in the Author SEO section:

Author Bio fields

The author bio section allows you to add your author image, an author excerpt, and a full author bio.

One way of leveraging your bio is by adding an Author Name (Written By) author block. This gives a very brief summary of the post’s author. Hovering over the author's name reveals a tooltip with a mini bio.

You can also add an author bio at the bottom of your page. By default, this will be a compact bio.

Compact bio

This gives a brief summary of the author. It also:

  • Links to the author's archive page (page with all the author’s articles)
  • Showcases your areas of expertise
  • Links to your social media accounts

You can choose to display the full bio by going to the Author Bio block settings and turning the Show Compact Author Bio toggle off.

Show Compact Author Bio toggle.

This results in your full bio being displayed:

Again, this helps you demonstrate your expertise, experience, authority, and trustworthiness. As a result, meeting Google’s E-E-A-T guidelines is easier.

Boost Authority and Credibility by Adding a Reviewer

Another great way to boost your credibility is by adding a reviewer for your content. This helps show that your content has been fact-checked and is accurate. That’s why we added support for showcasing a reviewer on your posts.

Reviewer block

This is particularly important for YMYL articles, where you need to demonstrate that your content is accurate, up-to-date, and reliable. A reviewer also shows that your content is backed up by an expert and can be trusted.

Adding a reviewer goes a long way in helping you build trust and authority, boosting your Google E-E-A-T score.

Implementing Author SEO with Shortcodes

Besides the blocks, AIOSEO’s Author SEO addon also supports shortcodes and PHP functions. Some of the shortcodes the addon supports include:

[aioseo_eeat_author_tooltip show-label="true" show-image="true" show-tooltip="true"]

[aioseo_eeat_reviewer_tooltip show-label="true" show-image="true" show-tooltip="true"]

[aioseo_eeat_author_bio compact="false"]

Supported PHP functions include:

aioseo_eeat_author_tooltip( $showLabel = true, $showImage = true, $showTooltip = $true );

aioseo_eeat_reviewer_tooltip( $showLabel = true, $showImage = true, $showTooltip = true );

aioseo_eeat_author_bio( $compact = true )

These shortcodes and PHP functions make it easier to embed Author SEO elements anywhere on a post or page.

  1. This is awesome! Thank you for the simple and detailed explanation and screen shots Benjamin. You guys are the best. I look forward to utilizing this to it’s fullest. Great work!

  2. This is a great addition and looks good on the desktop version. In the mobile version, the text is too wide and text run off the screen. How does one correct that?

  3. I like the AIOSEO About Author feature, particularly the ability to have an excerpt appear after each blog. Despite this, I am really frustrated by one aspect so I’ve turned the whole thing off. I hope you can help.

Long before this feature, I already had an About Me page on my site. I’ve thought through it and it’s well developed. With your Author SEO plugin, a small hyperlink appears, “See Full Bio” at the end of my Excerpt. I either need to hide/delete the hyperlink or find a way to point this to my existing bio page. I don’t need two bios and I don’t like the ad hoc page it creates (and its illogical url). Respectfully, Jeff
